Heroes. The people who worship them. The people who want them dead. In Starhaven, whose side are you on?

Story Description

Heroes are not saviors here. They're prime-time entertainment — and somebody out there is keeping score. Starhaven is a modern city where the Awakened live beside everyone else, and everything changed the day powers stopped being a rumor. Above ground, the Hero Agency turns gifted men and women into licensed celebrities: public identities, official ratings, live broadcasts of every fight, and children who tape their posters to the wall. Below ground, the Warren gathers the ones who refuse the leash, trading rules for raw strength. Between the two, ordinary people just try to live — and some of them are done pretending. The worshipers defend their idols against every accusation. The avengers lost someone in a disaster no hero ever answered for, and they have a name, a face, and a grudge they can trace back to one night. You don't have to pick a side. You can be a hero, a villain, a bystander, a believer, or the reason a hero stops sleeping. Every fight moves your reputation, your wanted level, and how much either faction trusts you — and when your rank climbs past C, it will be because you bled for it, not because the story felt generous. What to expect: superpowered urban fantasy with progression-fantasy systems — ranked abilities with real costs and cooldowns, faction standing, and a city that remembers what you do. Ensemble cast, morally gray factions, no free power-ups. Contains violence, civilian casualties, and grief and revenge themes. The city already has its heroes. The only question left is what it will call you.

Characters

YouAwakened or ordinary — you choose the side

The lead you define: name, background, power, and allegiance. Be a hero, a villain, a neutral, a worshiper, or the one who swears revenge on heroes.

The Lost KingLeader of the villain faction, the Warren

The Warren's master. Warm smile, savage hands, and a habit of testing newcomers until their real face shows.

SpiderjackWarren lieutenant / the silent hunter

A man who barely speaks. He weaves with observation and patience, and he never gives an opponent a second opening.

ResonanceThe Hero Agency's ace

The Agency's undisputed ace. Always a step ahead of everyone, bright smile, and very good at hiding how tired she is.

FreyaAgency hero / public idol

One of the most popular heroes in the city. Flawless on camera, quietly doubtful about the word "hero" off it.

KaylaStarhaven news anchor

The woman who reaches every disaster first, fitting heroes, villains, and citizens into the same screen.

VeraHero worshiper / superfan

A girl who treats heroes as a religion. She collects every battle report and has zero tolerance for anyone who talks badly about them.

GreyThe avenger / anti-hero crusader

He lost his family in a disaster no one was held responsible for, and has treated every hero victory since as a joke at his expense.

Into the Deeper Dark

Night bleeds through the Warren's corridors like ink. Cold light leaks down through the cracked dome of the abandoned factory, rust and machine oil thick in the air. The moment you step onto ground claimed by the city's underground, two sets of eyes are already waiting. The Lost King sprawls across a crooked throne, knuckles drumming the rusted armrest, the curl of his mouth somewhere between welcome and execution. "Heh. Another new ally. How delightful." He rises slowly, and hairline cracks spider across the floor beneath him. "But before we go any further, let's see whether you're worth the time. Your power — what is it?" He settles into an easy, almost lazy stance, like a man ready for a friendly spar. Spiderjack says nothing at all. He only watches you, his gaze bottomless — a net drawing closed.

You enter as an Awakened who has just signed on with the Warren. First decide how to answer the Lost King's test: state your power outright, refuse to expose yourself, or throw the first punch. Your answer sets the villains' first impression of you — and decides whether Spiderjack quietly adds your name to his watch list.
