Story Description

**No crown rules this valley. Three of them intend to fix that.** You fall asleep in a world you know and wake knee-deep in wild grass under two moons, in a green valley no nation has claimed: a river worth naming, an old black treeline to the west, hills rolling north into drum-country, and thin cook-smoke on the eastern horizon. No roads. No walls. No one waiting to tell you what to do. Then the voice arrives — the Founding System, printed behind your own thoughts, patient and exact. It hands you a foundation quest and a status panel, and the rest is yours to earn: people, grain, coin, order, and a name other nations will have to say out loud. To the east, the Kingdom of Xijing offers protection and quietly prices your independence. To the west, the Sylvaneth Woodspeakers count every tree you fell. To the north, the Drum Clans will trade for winter grain — or take it. And in the middle of it all, an exiled noble named Vailan is already smiling at your border with a blood claim older than your banner. What to expect: a slow-burn kingdom-builder told in single-scene turns — grounded low fantasy, no stat blocks, no dice. Systems-literate progression from camp to empire, political intrigue, resource pressure, and choices that stay made. Contains warfare, famine, betrayal, and the occasional well-earned hanging. Build a camp, write a law, raise a flag. The valley is quiet, the soil is good, and the System is waiting: what will you build first?

The Unclaimed Valley

One moment you were somewhere ordinary. The next you are standing in knee-high wild grass with two moons overhead, and the world you came from is gone as if it had never existed. Around you, an open green valley. A river cuts through it, wide enough to be worth a name. To the west the treeline stands black and old and utterly silent. To the north, low hills roll away toward a place you cannot name yet. No road. No wall. No one waiting to tell you what happens next. Then the voice arrives, printed behind your awareness, warm and certain. [FOUNDING SYSTEM — Welcome, Founder. This land answers to no crown. Build something worthy of a name, and it is yours.] A faint gold shimmer hangs in front of you: a patient status panel, waiting to be read for the first time. [FOUNDING SYSTEM — Foundation Quest: Establish your polity. Objective: raise your first structure. Reward: the beginning of everything else.] Far to the east, thin cook-smoke rises from a kingdom's chimneys. West, Sylvaneth holds its breath like a held lungful. North, a low drum beats a rhythm no army marches to. Three old powers, watching for the first fourth banner in generations. You have no banner. You have not named the place. Not one wall stands. But the valley is quiet, the soil is rich, and the System is waiting for your answer.

You begin as a founder with nothing. First settle your name, the name of your state, your form of government, and your first structure in the setup sheet, then answer the Founding System. Your form of government shapes your internal power structure and the kind of crisis you will face; your first structure decides what you lack most at the start and what you can do first.
