Story Description

On Academy Island, cards are law. One face-down card can rewrite your rank — or your soul. You arrive with a deck, an applicant number, and nothing else. The island is a closed dueling academy built by the White Dragon Consortium, where the economy, the courts and the bunk you sleep in are all settled at the duel table. Crimson Dorm takes the students everyone has written off. Gilded Dorm breeds calculators and theorists. Azure Dorm belongs to the heirs — and to the unbeaten senior the whole island calls the Wall. Your entrance trial is today. Win, and you walk out with a rank to climb. Lose, and you get a leaking cabin and the company of the rejects. Then the rules start bending. Monsters arrive in solidform — real wind, real impact, real pain. And when a duel resonates with the elder rites buried under the island, it turns into something else: a Shadow Duel, where the loser pays in flesh and the cards in their hand fade blank white. Students have been vanishing at night and coming back at dawn hollow-eyed, holding decks full of nothing. Behind them stands the Shadow Cult and its priestess, Blackfeather. Behind her, the Umbra Knights are gathering to steal the seven Spirit Keys and break the seal on the three Primal Beasts sleeping under the volcano. Every duel you win moves your rank. Every promise you keep, or break, moves your allies. And every card in your deck answers to how well you actually understand it. WHAT TO EXPECT: a deckbuilding dueling-academy progression fantasy. Grounded, momentum-driven card battles, dorm-caste politics, shifting loyalties and a cult thread running under the school. Violence and soul-level stakes on the page; no harem. You can climb a rigged ladder, or you can break it. Which one did you come to this island for?

Entrance Trial

The camera drops through the glass dome of the Academy Dome and keeps falling. Below you, dozens of solidform arenas light up one after another, the air thick with ozone and the low growl of summoned monsters. Up in the stands, Azure Dorm students lean on the railings with their arms crossed, looking down the way you look at livestock at auction. You stand on the titanium floor of Arena Four. The duel gauntlet locks onto your left arm with a click. The loudspeaker is flat and impersonal: Next applicant. Number one-zero-one. Enter, please. You step onto the challenger's mark. Across from you stands a tall examiner in a dark, perfectly pressed suit; he raises his gauntlet and the clasps snap shut. A wall of light rises between you. Applicant. His voice carries no temperature at all. This is your official practical trial. If you want a place at this Academy, you have to beat my standard test deck. I will not hold back. He tilts his head toward the terminal beside you. Register your deck for era verification, then start your gauntlet. Above you the counting board blazes to life and pins both life totals at four thousand. Somewhere in the stands, someone laughs. Your terminal flickers, waiting for your file to sync into the Academy mainframe. The examiner draws five cards, his fingers perfectly steady. Then he looks up at you. It is your move — your first move. How do you play it?
