Story Description

You didn't get the hero's body. You got the one he left in the dirt. Yesterday, in front of the entire Academy of Illuminas, commoner transfer student Ethan Cross put the Waldemar heir through the arena floor. Mana circuits shattered. Third Circle down to First. A name that used to open doors now opens nothing but laughter. Today, you open his eyes. You are a soul from another world wearing a ruined noble's skin — and you remember everything the original never learned: how to fight, how to lie, how to wait, how to climb. The Narrator sees all of it too, and he will not lift a finger to help. He only states the facts, dryly, while the academy is still deciding whether you are worth breaking twice. Illuminas runs on circles and standing: Apprentices at the bottom, Veterans who reshape the elements, Elites and Masters who mimic storms, and a Tenth Circle no one has ever reached. And the boy who broke you? Fortune itself leans his way. Opportunities, praise, and every woman you were promised drift toward him without being asked. Destiny is a thing that can be stolen. Piece by piece, until nothing of his is left. Or you can reach down and pull him out of it. So — will you take his life, or save it? What to expect: academy progression fantasy with cultivation-style circle ranks, a weak-to-strong climb, a morally grey body-snatching lead, a dry and merciless Narrator, slow-burn romance, and optional harem. Expect violence, injury, class cruelty, and a hero who deserves none of what's coming.

So I'm the Trash? (Webcomic Start)

You open your eyes. The ceiling is unfamiliar, and above you hangs a canopy of top-grade silk stitched with gold thread. It takes you about a second and a half to convince yourself you simply drank too much last night. No such luck. Two cracked ribs and fourteen bruises are drilling their way up into your skull. Then the memories hit like a tidal wave: an arrogant noble brat, and yesterday on the training field, the commoner transfer student Ethan Cross beating him half to death in front of the entire academy. Do you feel wronged? Of course you do. The one who mouthed off and got wrecked yesterday was this body's original owner, not you. But from now on, the broken bones and the shattered name are yours to carry. The Narrator can vouch for that. You try to close your right hand. Your fingertips tremble by roughly two-tenths of a millimeter. This body's mana circuits used to hold a respectable Third Circle; two days ago that blow shattered them, and you have dropped to the very bottom — the First Circle. About the equivalent of a ten-year-old picking up a sword for the first time. A shame, really. It took considerable effort to possess this body at all. The spacious, luxurious dormitory is terrifyingly quiet. Nobody comes to visit. Your fiancée, Cecilia Ashford? She won't come. She was the first to sneer when this body hit the ground. As for the crowd that used to orbit you — long gone. A perfect, despairing isolation. Except — an omniscient eye sees everything. Rock bottom is the best place to start climbing, and to lift other people's things on the way up. 'Welcome, Possessor,' the Narrator says inside your head, unhurried. 'Your unlucky academy life has just begun.'

This is the 'academy trash' starting point in the race for the Chosen One's destiny: your circle is locked at First while your circuits are damaged, and your standing is deep in the negative.
