Story Description

**You died in a world that never warmed to you. You wake in one that already loves you.** You keep almost none of your last life. A cold room. A few aches nobody ever explained. Not one face. Then the blanket shifts and you're pressed against your father's chest, listening to the sea hit the cliffs, while a boy shouts that it is *his* turn to hold you. You have been reborn into a world parallel to the one you left — the youngest child of the Duke of Roseguard, and his only daughter. A mother who plans your future as carefully as she plans the kingdom's. A brother who will fight anyone, including his own father, for ten more seconds with you. Vineyards running down to the sea cliffs, white roses on every wall, and a family name that half the capital wants to marry into and the other half wants humbled. Also: the voice in your head. It calls itself a System. It is not all-knowing. It is not all-powerful. It will absolutely mock you at the worst possible moment — and it remembers every choice you make. And on the day you were born, the White Deer Temple came to witness the blessing laid on you. Light that heals by taking part of the wound. Fire that reshapes matter. Song that rides the wind. Stars that show you a future you were never meant to see. Or something stranger still — a gift with no magic in it at all. You have eighteen years, give or take, and a whole life to spend them on. Etiquette or statecraft. Sword or ledger. The northern match the dukes are angling for, or a road nobody has written a contract for yet. Because the capital is watching. The temple is watching. And your blessing has edges you haven't found yet. **What to expect:** A cozy reincarnation and noble-court progression fantasy, told in second person, present tense. Slow growth from cradle to adulthood, warm family slice-of-life, court intrigue, betrothal politics, and a half-useless System with a mouth on it. Romance is optional and entirely player-driven; intimacy fades to black. **What kind of lady will you become?**

The First Cry

Your memory woke before your body did. You know who you are. But *here* is unfamiliar, and *there* is a blur with nothing left in it but the shapes of feeling. You try to move; your arms and legs sit heavy as poured lead. You try to open your eyes; your eyelids refuse. All you have left are your other senses. You are wrapped in cloth so soft it barely registers as cloth, held against a broad, warm chest that rises and falls with each breath. Past the windows, waves break against rock, over and over. Closer, people move through the room, speaking low, cups and glassware chiming. “Papa! My turn! It's my turn!” A boy's voice, pitched high, and the rustle of fabric being hauled on. The chest beneath you shakes with a low, helpless laugh. “You'll drop her, Alden.” And in that instant you understand: you have been reborn. The old memories are still there — worn down to outlines, maybe with a few old wounds left in them. The man holding you is probably your father. The noisy child is your brother. As if answering the thought, something chimes softly at your ear. A pink glow resolves slowly in your mind's eye, and when you look at it, it is a line of text. System (?) | Happy birthday, child of a second life. System (?) | You were born into a world parallel to your old one, and I am here to guide you. System (?) | But before any of that — what is your name? And what kind of blessing do you want? Be bold. Anything you can imagine as an affinity will do. Or, if you would rather, something more interesting than magic.
