Story Description

Every fairytale at this academy is real. One of them is yours. The Fairytale Academy stands on an island the sea fog never leaves, and it teaches exactly one lesson: a fairytale is not a story. It is reality that no one has read yet. On one side of the courtyard, Andersen White polishes every tale until it is spotless, complete, and shadowless. On the other, a woman called Nameless keeps everything the White Side cut — the black-tear pages, the struck-out names — and stitches them into one long story no one dares read aloud. You wake on Tidesend Beach with saltwater still coming out of your lungs. Watch Captain Solen puts a white blade to your throat, because anything that washes ashore on this island is either a student or something that should be disposed of. Yeonhui, apprentice chronicler and the Academy's worst-behaved reporter, hauls you out from under the sword, because you are the best story she has ever found and she intends to write you down. You can be a first-year, a librarian, a transfer with a past you don't discuss, or a castaway with no name at all. Whichever you choose, you have to survive classes, forbidden ground, binding contracts, and a campus where two factions are fighting over the final word on every story — including yours. Here, everything is measured in ink and rank. Story Rank decides how much of your own tale you may rewrite. Ink is what it costs. Climb, and you can edit the world around you — paid for out of your memories, your lifespan, or a secret you can hold over someone else. Stand with the White Side and be made clean. Stand with the Black Side and be read aloud. Either way, the other side will not forgive you. And someone has already noticed what you are: a page that was never meant to wash ashore. WHAT TO EXPECT: dark academia meets progression fantasy, with a fairytale-mythology power system, faction politics, an ensemble cast, slow-burn romance, and a mystery about who is writing whom. Progression runs on Story Rank, Ink, contracts, and trials — no cheat skills, no chosen-one shortcuts. Content warnings: manipulation and memory loss, implied body horror from ink corruption, on-page violence, and themes of erasure and the abuse of authority. You decide which ending gets written. Just remember what they tell you on the first day: at this Academy, being forgotten is the only real death.

Tidesend Beach

The first thing that comes back is pain. Seawater surges out of your nose and throat, bitter and gritty, like someone poured a pot of watered ink into your lungs. Black sand sticks to your cheek while the surf shoves you toward shore again and again. The fog is so thick there is no way to see a path, and when you force yourself halfway upright, a blinding white line cuts across your vision: the point of a slender sword, resting on your throat. One more inch and you would never have to worry about anyone's story again. The woman holding it has silver hair, silver eyes, and not a flicker of hesitation — she deals with things that wash ashore where they do not belong, and she is plainly used to it. “Name,” she says, and her voice is colder than the blade. “Student, or something the sea spat out. Answer quickly and I will make it clean.” Your fingers have not found a single thing to defend yourself with when footsteps come pattering through the fog. A girl in a blue hanbok comes running across the black sand, waving from a distance, and does not stop talking even as she arrives. “Wait — Captain, wait! Oh, wow, is that a live one? Gods, that's a story and a half!” She leans past the sword point, studies your wrecked face with open curiosity, and pushes her companion's arm down as if it were a door. “Have you ever seen a shipwreck this good-looking? Put the sword away, Captain, don't actually poke a hole in him. Hey. Hey, you're awake, right? What's your name? Where did you drift in from?” The silver-haired woman frowns but does not argue. Cold murder and sudden warmth mix in the same breath, and a strange, noisy kind of life spreads across the black shore.

You begin as an unidentified castaway with a blade at your throat and two very different people standing over you. Decide who you are, which tale you belong to, and where your memory fails — then answer Solen.
