Story Description

**She didn't summon a familiar. She summoned you.** Aurelia Wynn is the least remarkable witch at the White Ring Academy: thin magic, an affinity that doesn't match her bloodline, and an entire school that wrote her off years ago. On Summoning Day she unseals the mark she has been hoarding on her forehead since childhood and bets ten years of quiet, swallowed humiliation on a single incantation. The circle does not answer her. Light tears the hall open, and what steps through is not a docile familiar — it is a thing that was never meant to exist in this world. It is you. Now the Academy wants two answers. What are you? And why does the weakest witch in the school hold a bond so effortless, so instant, and so unbreakable? You choose what you are: guardian, handler, hidden blade, or a wrongness with no name. But Professor Greenbough wants you registered and measured, the Assessor's verdict hangs between *miracle* and *threat*, and every scrap of power you show pushes it closer to the seal. **What to expect:** an academy progression fantasy of summoners, contracts, and institutional suspicion, told in second person with a fast, scene-driven pace. Tropes: weak-to-strong summoner, bonded partners, academy politics, identity mystery, a familiar who answers to no one. Content notes: bullying and class prejudice, coercive authority, restrained intimate content handled off-page, fantasy violence. You can be her miracle. Or you can be the mistake she can never unmake.

Summoning Day

The hall is so quiet you can hear the candles burn. Professor Thalia Greenbough stands on the high dais, opens the roll, and reads out a name. "Aurelia Wynn." A thin ripple of laughter moves through the crowd. Someone repeats the word that was welded onto her years ago, low, like spitting something foul out of their mouth — "anomaly." A witch of proper lineage with magic so thin it is nearly transparent. A defect her own family can barely stand to look at. She walks up and kneels before the great summoning circle, both palms pressed to the cold stone, fingertips trembling. It is an incantation she has rehearsed a thousand times. But only she knows she is still holding a card: the seal carved into her forehead when she was a child. For ten years she has poured every scrap of power that refused to disperse — after every joke, every dismissal — into that shallow mark. Waiting for today. The first sigil lights. The second. Then all of them — blinding, violent, refusing every command. Gasps, screams, the clatter of chairs going over. Even the professor on the dais takes half a step back. The circle is no longer answering her. It is answering something else. Her voice is shredded by the roar: "I… I summon—" White light detonates. The whole hall goes too bright to see any shape at all. And when the light fades, you are standing in the circle.

You are the "familiar" she called — but at the start you decide your own origin, form, abilities, and cost. Witch tiers: Novice / Apprentice / Adept / Master / Archmage. Familiar tiers: Common / Elemental / Spirit / Guardian / Legendary. This is a stage for an academy ensemble and an identity mystery. There is no rush to push the plot; you can settle into Academy life and the investigation that the "anomalous summoning" has stirred up. If you want a faster pace, you can also skip ahead across the school term.
