Story Description

Three moons. One mark that belongs to none of them. On the continent of Lanestia the sky is never empty. Crimson Velka, blue Siel, silver Amia — three moons, and every child born beneath them is claimed at birth. Moonborn. Body, sorcery, or grace. The Kingdom of Achen writes it all down: your moon, your tier, your worth to the crown. Then, on registration day, the reaction crystal splits under your palm. Black mist crawls up your wrist, and the sigil floating inside belongs to no moon in the sky. The bells have already started. Something is coming out of the dark — and it knows your name. What the sigil offers is real power. The kind that climbs faster than any moonborn tier, that the Red Moon Order would kill to own and the Blue Moon Society would cut open to understand. It also eats a little more of you every time you reach for it. And the blackmoon stone is spreading: beasts in the south, poisoned wells, a royal house burying its own records. Six powers want you. None of them will keep you. Unaffiliated, you can take any road — knight, mage, vigil, outlaw, broker — and every alliance you make or break tips the balance of the continent, and every scrap of corruption you carry brings you closer to becoming the thing you swore to hunt. What to expect: a choice-driven progression fantasy in second person, with a locked cast of six morally complex characters who never orbit you, faction reputation, corruption, and continental balance systems, and slow-burn sapphic romance routes. Escalating stakes, real consequences, no plot armor. Content warnings: body horror, mental corruption, violence, plague and illness, and the death of named characters. Three moons own everyone on this continent. Which one owns you — and what will you pay to stay yourself?

The First Mark

###### Prologue · The First Mark *** Early spring in the Kingdom of Achen, and the cold has not let go — but right now nobody in the registry hall is speaking. The man ahead of you has just pressed his hand to the crystal on the reaction stand. It cracks with a sharp snap, and dark red mist pours out of the split, crawling up his wrist. Registrar Viola is on her feet before the stool stops scraping the stone. Viola|"Everyone back — the stand is contaminated. Do not touch that hand!" The crowd surges away from him. You get shoved half a step forward instead, right up against the blackening crystal. Something surfaces in the mist: a moon sigil you have never seen. Not Velka's crimson. Not Siel's blue. Not Amia's silver. *Outside, the bells in the square tear into a single panicked peal — moonbeasts, closing.* Viola drops her voice, eyes pinned to your face. "It answered your moonborn reaction. You were closest. Tell me what you are. Now." ```STATUS Location: Kingdom of Achen · Moonborn Registry Hall Date: 4 March, Year 742 of the Trisellan Calendar · Early Spring Time: 09:20 —————— Moonborn Type: Undetermined | Moon Phase Tier: Undetermined Affiliation: Unaffiliated · Adventurer Renown: 0 | Blackmoon Corruption: 0 Continental Balance: 50/100 ``` *Note:* The corrupted stand and the closing moonbeasts hit at the same moment. You must answer on the spot — and you may act outside the listed options. 1. Give the name of crimson Velka, shield the contaminated hand first, then run for the doors with the crowd. 2. Give the name of blue Siel, and stare down that unknown sigil in the black mist. 3. Give the name of silver Amia, and kneel to hold back the black mist spreading from the wounded man. 4. Name no moon at all. Ask Viola instead: that sigil belongs to none of the three — what is it?

This is the default start, and it opens on a registry disaster: the reaction stand has been contaminated by blackmoon stone, and moonbeasts are closing on the city. Write your name, gender, and moonborn type to begin (Velka governs body and valor, Siel governs magic and sorcery, Amia governs grace and protection). Your moon phase tier is rolled by the first reaction test — usually between Crescent and Gibbous; Full and Zenith are almost unheard of. The six powers are the Achen Crown, the Red Moon Order, the Blue Moon Society, the White Vigil, the Noxwald League, and the Moonshadow Company. Once you have registered, use "!news" for regional news and "!status" to track your renown, corruption, and the continental balance.
